OUR HISTORY

The first steps of the Joint Committee began prior to 1969. During these years, the four Saskatchewan Local Unions each had collective agreements with the Canadian Mechanical Contractors of Saskatchewan Association. Discussions regarding the need for various training strategies were written into the minutes as issues dealt with at the various Pipe Trades Conventions held during those years. Local Unions 179, 258, 264 and 409 each had its own autonomy and was well represented at the conventions. Opinions varied, but the main theme was that a training structure was something that was needed by all.

The resolutions, the agreements, the heated debates, camaraderie, solutions to problems, a young George Pellerin, Ken Busch Sr., Russ St. Eloi, Jack Wathen, Danny Van Beek, Chuck Brown, Peter Patrick, Laurence McMillan, J. Konias, R. Phillips, N. Olson, government people as guest speakers all worked hard to put in place the mechanisms we have today. In the years prior to the Joint Training Committee, many folks were discussing and debating the need for training in our industry. These men were our pioneers and worked to lay the building blocks of our educational system.

Here at Saskatchewan Piping Industry, we know that sometimes all it takes to change the world is a little support.  Since our founding in 1969 we have been determined to make an impact.  The core of our efforts is to bring out team’s fresh ideas and passions to the range of activities we’re involved in.  Through all of out endeavors, we hope to display the conviction behind our beliefs.Just imagine what we can achieve together!
